I had long
shied away from the hazards and pitfalls of al fresco work.
I had tried it once and got utterly bored on my own and
therefore never bothered about it till one of my artist
friends asked me to paint in Gozo.
It
was a disaster as it was one of the worst siroccos I have
ever experienced and despite the merits of 'wet on
wet' there are indeed limits to that! It must be said
however that I was well and truly hooked and have been going
out with an ever increasing circle of artists and painting
in various locations. The style has to be fast and
inventive
and must capture the spirit of the place rather than the
precise physiognomy and topography; we will leave that to
the photographers! One of my greatest inspirations is the
late lamented Giuseppe Arcidiacono who I admired
tremendously and whose boldness I timidly try to emulate!

KENNETH ZAMMIT TABONA’S
EXHIBITION
THE
GALLERY – LIJA - 29th MARCH 2009
It gives me great
pleasure to welcome you all to this latest exhibition of
Kenneth Zammit Tabona’s works. Kenneth and I have
known each other for more years than either of us would
care to remember or admit, and I felt very honoured and
privileged when Kenneth asked me if I would open this
exhibition.
The Sunday
Times - 17th February 2008 - By Charlene Vella
One of Malta’s leading full-time
artists, Kenneth Zammit Tabona, is presenting his latest
‘en plein air’ watercolours at B’art Gallery in
Amery Street, Sliema. This small but interesting
collection includes various landscapes and seascapes of
Malta, Gozo and Comino, all of which have been painted
within the last six months. Zammit Tabona and his
painter friends frequently tour around the Maltese
countryside, brush in hand, ready to capture whatever is
before them or that which inspires them.

16th February - By Astrid Vella
Although Kenneth Zammit
Tabona’s most recent exhibition spans the output of a
relatively short space of time and is quite limited due
to the size of the winebar venue, it covers an almost
disarming variety of styles.
